Jenny Glenn, who coached MSU Denver to NCAA volleyball championship, takes job at American University

MSU Denver volleyball coach Jenny Glenn is ready for her next challenge.

After leading the Roadrunners to a historic season that ended with the program’s first NCAA Division II national championship, Glenn has accepted the head coaching job at Division I American University.

“I think over the years, I had a mission the minute I got here to win a national championship,” Glenn said Thursday. “It’s just been really fun to watch each group go after that goal and it was awesome to reach the mountaintop and win it in December.

“I just feel like at this point in my career I’m ready. It’s time for the next challenge and I’ve loved my time at Division II.”

Over 10 seasons at MSU Denver, Glenn compiled a 252-53 overall record and a remarkable 152-10 record in RMAC play. Her .826 winning percentage and .938 conference winning percentage are the highest in program history.

“It’s just been such a fun ride the last 10 years,” she said. “I inherited a program that had a ton of success, multiple consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and just the rich tradition of MSU Denver. And I wanted to carry that on.”

In a season that ended with a national title, the Roadrunners were also RMAC regular-season champions, RMAC tournament champions and NCAA South Central Regional champions. The team’s 32 wins set a program record.

Glenn was also named Colorado Sportswomen College Coach of the Year and MSU Denver was the Team of the Year.

“Jenny Glenn has transformed our volleyball program into a national powerhouse,” MSU Denver director of athletics Todd Thurman said. “Her commitment to excellence, competitive drive and care for her student-athletes have left an enduring legacy. While we are saddened to see her go, we are incredibly proud of her and grateful for everything she has accomplished for MSU Denver.”

The national title marked the first NCAA Division II volleyball championship in program history, and the first volleyball national championship ever won by a Colorado school. It was also the first national championship for MSU Denver since 2006 and the fifth national title overall at the school.

“I love what the national championship does for the university in so many ways,” Glenn said. “I think it’s a big stage that we got to be a part of and we got to share kind of what MSU Denver volleyball is all about. It’s a great accomplishment.”

Glenn takes over an American University program that finished 24-5 in 2025.

“I’ve loved my time here, and I’m excited to take the next step and take over a program that in a lot of ways can be similar to MSU Denver and try to take them deeper,” Glenn said.
