Broncos plan to bring back Devon Key, Dondrea Tillman, Jordan Jackson, Tyler Badie, won’t tender Lucas Krull
The Broncos plan to do the obvious and bring back all four of their exclusive-rights free agents.
Sources said Friday the Broncos plan to place one-year, $1.075 million tenders on safety Devon Key, outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman, defensive lineman Jordan Jackson and running back Tyler Badie. The Denver Gazette reported Feb. 27 that Badie’s tender was in line to happen. A source said Badie is in Denver and plans to sign his deal “soon,” perhaps on Saturday.
As exclusive rights free agents, the four players have no options to play elsewhere in the NFL in 2026 unless no tender is offered. Key and Tillman are team stalwarts and there is no risk to also bringing back Jackson and Badie since all the tenders are nonguaranteed.
A source said Friday that Key, named first-team All-Pro on special teams in 2025, plans to sign his tender when back in Denver in April in preparation for offseason drills. A source said that also is the signing plan for Tillman, who had five sacks as a rookie in 2024 and four in 2025.
Jackson, an Air Force graduate, got into just five games in 2025 after playing in all 17 in 2024. Badie played in 16 games last season, carrying eight times for 23 yards and catching 19 passes for 141 yards.
No tender for Krull
A source said Friday the Broncos will not tender restricted free agent tight end Lucas Krull by Wednesday’s deadline, putting him in line to be an unrestricted free agent. The lowest tender amount is $3.52 million for the right of first refusal.
Krull made $1.03 million in 2025, when he had two catches for 15 yards in three games. He was placed on injured reserve prior to Week 5 due to a foot injury and missed the rest of the season. He had eight catches for 95 yards for Denver in 2023 and 19 grabs for 152 yards in 2024.
Krull plans to test the market in free agency. What the Broncos do at tight end in free agency will play a role in whether he could return to Denver. Tight end Nate Adkins is also a restricted free agent, and the Broncos have until Wednesday to make a decision on what to do with him.
McClellan visits Broncos
Missouri defensive tackle Chris McClellan announced on social media Friday that he took a top-30 draft visit to the Broncos. McClellan participated in last week’s NFL scouting combine, which included him running the 40-yard dash in 5.05 seconds.
