Elijah Wood will rave on at Cervantes’
I am just going to preface this by saying: “I’m not entirely sure what all these words mean.” But, here goes:
Actor and music enthusiast Elijah Wood’s “Wooden Wisdom” vinyl DJ project is coming to Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on May 31 for what is being called “a Middle-earth-themed rave.”
A wait, what, who?
A Middle-earth-themed rave is apparently an immersive, fantasy-focused dance party inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit.” These gatherings feature electronic music and costumes ranging from elves to orcs (definition: a mythical monster, as in, an ogre).
This one will follow Wood’s May 31 appearance at Fan Expo Denver at the Colorado Convention Center celebrating the 25th anniversary of “The Lord of the Rings,” featuring Wood as Frodo Baggins.
Rave on, 45-year-old Elijah!
From the event announcement: “Cervantes will transform into an enchanted dance floor featuring Elijah Wood alongside acclaimed DJ Zach Cowie spinning an eclectic, costume-friendly vinyl set that leans into disco, deep cuts, and fantasy flair for local fans.”
Wooden Wisdom is the name of Woods’ partnership with Cowie. Together, the duo have developed a devoted following for their eclectic vinyl-only DJ sets that weave together rare musical gems and beloved classics.
Also in attendance with Wood at Fan Expo Denver will be Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd for what is being billed as “An Evening with the Hobbits: In Celebration of 25 Years.”
That event will essentially consist of an onstage panel discussion. But fand can pay extra to get prioritized seating, a photo-op with the cast and autographs.
