Previews for movies opening in theaters for the weekend of March 12-15
“The Optimist: The Bravest Act Is Truth” — (Drama, not rated, 112 minutes). Herbert Heller, who as a young boy survived the Holocaust and has carried an unspoken secret for 60 years, finally opens up when he meets Abby, an intuitive young teenager who is secretly struggling with emotional burdens of her own.

“Reminders of Him” — (Drama, PG-13, 114 minutes). When Kenna is released from prison after seven years, she goes back to her hometown, hoping to rebuild her life and reunite with her young daughter, Diem. However, everyone in the town, except for a former NFL player and bar owner, tries to keep Kenna from Diem. As time goes by and the relationship between Kenna and the bar owner grows, she realizes that she must face her past for a second chance at a hopeful future.

“Slanted” — (Drama, R, 102 minutes). High school senior Joan Huang, a Chinese American who dreams of winning prom queen as a way into acceptance into American life, undergoes an experimental surgery to become White. However, what she thought would be a dream come true turns into an emotional and physical nightmare.

“Undertone” — (Horror, R, 93 minutes). When a podcast host who covers spooky content moves into the home of her dying mother, she is pushed toward madness by mysterious recordings sent to her about a pregnant couple’s paranormal encounters.
