Denver Zoo opens nighttime event ‘Glowing Wild’
Have you ever wanted to see the Denver Zoo in the dark?
The “Glowing Wild” experience at the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance (DZCA) returned for its second year on March 13, offering guests evening access to the zoo on select nights.
The after-dark experience features more than 170 lantern sculptures handcrafted by Chinese artisans. Guests can explore 60 illuminated scenes featuring interactive landscapes from around the world.

“As guests explore DZCA’s 80-acre campus, they’ll be transported across the globe through stunning wildlife lantern installations, including a moose standing 20 feet tall and 60 feet wide; a family of African lions inspired by DZCA’s own pride in Predator Ridge; and many other immersive and interactive surprises along the way,” Jake Kubié, spokesperson for the zoo, wrote in a news release.
For the best experience, the zoo recommends planning visits to the experience during the darker hours of the evening, which run from 6:30-10 p.m.
Throughout the season, the zoo will host several special events.
On March 27 and April 3, the zoo will host a scout night, inviting scout troops to complete science-based missions through the zoo’s “Animal Academy” and earn scout patches.
On April 2 and May 7, the DZCA will host adult nights. The event, open to those 21 and older, will include one complimentary alcoholic drink, live entertainment, a silent disco, karaoke and animal demonstrations.
On April 12, the DZCA will host a sensory-friendly night with special accommodations, including reduced crowds, low-volume music, quiet rooms and lighting designed for guests living with sensory processing disorders.

General admission tickets start at $24.95 for adults, $17.95 for youth and free for children 2 and younger.
The DZCA is home to more than 2,500 animals representing 450 species. The nonprofit wildlife conservation organization aims to inspire and empower communities to save wildlife and wild places.
