Looking to go to Pike Place Market instead of Pikes Peak? Greyhound announced Monday that a new bus route will connect Denver to Seattle starting this week.

The bus route is set to launch Wednesday.

Greyhound will connect several hubs between the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest as the route is set to go between Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. It will reinstate service to Salt Lake City, Utah and Pasco, Wash., the transit company said.

The route will start at Union Station in Denver. In Colorado, it will stop at Vail and Glenwood Springs. It will then go through Green River, Price, Provo and Salt Lake City in Utah. It will make a stop in Boise, Idaho, before going to La Grande in Oregon and Pasco, Yakima, Ellensburg and Seattle in Washington.

The bus will run once a day, every day in both directions, Greyhound said.

The trip takes about 26 hours and prices start at $98, according to the transit company’s website

The new bus service is a response to growing demand for intercity bus travel and gives people more options for cheaper long-distance travel, said Karina Frayter, head of communications at Greyhound’s parent company Flix North America, in a news release.

“By connecting cities and smaller communities across the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West to key transit hubs and our national network, we’re making it easier for travelers to reach essential destinations, explore the region, and stay connected to opportunities across the country,” Frayter said.

The Regional Transportation District nearly kicked Greyhound out of Union Station last year after its five-year contract expired, citing abandoned buses and passengers that have led to increased loitering and safety issues at Denver’s bus terminal, 9News reported. 

But as the lease expired, RTD and Greyhound reached an agreement requiring Greyhound to improve service at the station in order to extend its lease until February 2027, according to Denverite.
