Denver weather: Record-breaking temperatures across the state

Denver, along with much of Colorado, is expected to break the all-time record for temperature on March 19 with sunny, clear skies.

The National Weather Service said to expect a high near 83 degrees on Thursday in Denver. That’s the hottest it has ever been on March 19 in recorded archive history. The previous high was 81 degrees, set in 1907.

Denver will also experience a much-needed break from aggressive winds on Thursday. Expect winds to be 7 to 11 mph with gusts of up to 16 mph.

Though the area is relieved of a Red Flag Warning, residents should remain fire-conscious with the record-breaking heat and dry conditions.

“It may be March, but many will experience summer-like temperatures over the next few days. Don’t let your guard down just because it’s a Spring month. Take precautions to keep you and others safe during hot weather,” the weather service said.

Expect a low of around 48 degrees tonight with little change in the wind.

Thursday marks the second day of a potential streak of 80+ degree days. With temperatures forecasted to rise through Saturday, the Denver area is likely to record four days in a row of 80+ degrees. It would be the first time ever in the month of March.
