Thursday was the hottest March day in Denver history
Thursday’s heat wasn’t just unusual for a March day in Denver — it was a record-breaker.
The official high temperature of 85 degrees at Denver International Airport made March 19, 2026 the hottest March day in Denver history, but it’s a record that’s not expected to stand for long.
Denver’s March heatwave continues Friday with a forecast high of 85, so a new record is possible. Then on Saturday, the high is expected to reach 88 degrees. If the high ends up being slightly warmer than expected and reaches 90, which the 9NEWS Weather Impact Team said is a possibility, it would be the earliest 90-degree day in Denver history.
It’s shaping up to be a week of history-making weather for Denver. The high hit 81 degrees on Wednesday, tying the third-earliest 80-degree temperature on record for Denver. The average first 80-degree reading of the year is on April 27, making Wednesday’s heat about six weeks earlier than average.
