Firefighters respond to brush fire in Lone Tree

A brush fire that broke out near South Peoria St. and Ridgegate Parkway in Lone Tree on Saturday is under control, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.

South Metro Fire Rescue reported that it was a fast-moving brush fire, and that no structures were threatened. Westbound Ridgegate Parkway was closed to traffic near Meridian Village Parkway.

In an update posted around 4 p.m., South Metro Fire Rescue wrote that the fire’s forward progress had been stopped and that the fire is under control. Crews were working on mop-up and checking for hot spots.

The fire is estimated at 20 acres.

The fire comes at the end of a week filled with record-high temperatures, dangerous fire conditions, and red flag warnings across Colorado.
