‘World’s largest ski fest for women’ known for nude lap to continue without skiing – or refunds
A festival billed as ‘the largest ski and snowboard festival on the planet for women’ is set to take place this year – minus the skiing and snowboarding.
In case you missed it, Sunlight Mountain Resort in Glenwood Springs shut down its skiing operations for the season on March 22 – more than two weeks before the annual Boot Tan Fest, hosted by Buck Wild Coffee, is set to take place on its slopes. Snowpack in Sunlight’s home river basin is at 38 percent of the norm, as of March 26, and it’s dropping off fast. By the time Boot Tan Fest takes place on the weekend of April 10 to April 12, it’s likely that hardly any snow will be left. That obviously spells trouble for a festival that’s billed as a skiing event – a festival that’s perhaps most famous for its ‘naked ski lap’ in which many participants partake.
“No lifts will be running this year due to lack of snow, but the festival is still on,” reads the Boot Tan Fest website. In another spot on the site, organizers note that “Boot Tan has always been about more than just skiing, it’s about community, celebrating women, music, creativity, and bringing people together in the mountains. With the mountain closing early, we are actively expanding programming, activations, and experiences to make the day as fun and memorable as possible.”
The switch-up comes with another caveat, too: “Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be transferred, deferred, or partially refunded.” As stated on the frequently asked questions page, refunds weren’t allowed after March 1: “festival will happen regardless of snow conditions.”
The ‘all access pass’ for Boot Tan Fest remains on sale, priced at $275. Activities that the ticket includes as been updated reflect a change in the schedule, substituting a sauna and cold plunge experience for the brunt of Saturday.
Undboutedly, Boot Tan Fest will look a bit different this year. Hopefully it’s back for the 2026-2027 season in full swing.
