Denver weather: Cloudy skies and cooler temperatures

Friday offers a brief respite from the abnormal heat this March,

The National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect overcast skies in the morning, with the sun gradually coming out throughout the day. Expect a high near 53.

It will be breezy, with wind gusts up to 28 mph. That wind will continue to blow in wildfire smoke from the Nebraska panhandle, causing more haze to mix in with the clouds throughout Friday.

The weather service previously forecasted precipitation, but now predicts it to remain dry along the I-25 corridor.

“Light snow/flurries remain possible in the mountains and higher foothills, otherwise dry conditions are expected elsewhere,” the weather service said.

The cooler temperatures are not the new normal. As the cold front passes, expect temperatures to shoot back up to the 80s tomorrow and to be sustained throughout the weekend.

The return of the heat will again raise fire risk for the state this weekend.
