News Nuggets: Denver street sweeping begins April 1 – no joke
Nothing says spring in the Mile High City like the seasonal return of street sweeping. Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) will begin sweeping operations April 1.
Residents are encouraged to check the red and white street signs on their block for specific parking restrictions and to move cars on their street on sweeping day to avoid a $50 citation.
The city asks residents to move their cars on sweeping day so the sweepers may reach all the way to the curb line where dirt accumulates. Debris removal also helps prevent storm sewer inlets from getting clogged.
Residents can look up street sweeping schedules and sign up for email/text reminders online at denvergov.org/online-services-hub. The posted sweeping season runs April through November.
City offices closed Monday
Most City and County of Denver offices will be closed Monday in observance of Sí Se Puede Day.

The holiday office closures include the Mayor’s Office, all City Council offices, the Clerk and Recorder, the Auditor’s Office and most city agencies. Partner entities such as Denver Health will remain open, as will agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport. Sworn members of the Denver Sheriff, Police and Fire departments and other emergency responders will report for duty as well.
DIA seeks artists for rotating sculpture program
Denver International Airport invites artists to apply to showcase one of their existing sculptures as part of the airport’s rotating sculpture program. The sculptures are selected biannually through a competitive selection process for six-month rotations.

The spring 2026 cycle asks artists to submit proposals featuring works that reflect Colorado’s 150th anniversary and/or the United States’ 250th anniversary, interpreting these milestones through themes of history, landscape, innovation, community and the evolving American experience.
The selected sculptures will be on display on Concourse B from June through December 2026.
Artist applications will be accepted through April 12. For more information or to apply, visit https://www.flydenver.com/at-the-airport/art/opportunities/.
The selected artist will receive an honorarium.
