Head to this Denver spot for the best ‘bang for your buck’ breakfast burrito

Spring is underway in Colorado and the Mile High City-based Westword publication has released the results for their popular ‘Best of Denver‘ awards, 2026 edition.

While Westword covers the basics in terms of awards, the publication also works many surprisingly and more specific categories into the mix – one of those this year specifically built around tracking down a delicious breakfast burrito at an affordable price. An awards program that’s been pointing out some of the best that Denver has to offer since 1984, top picks include both ‘readers’ choice’ selections that are voted on, as well as editorial picks. This year, one of the editorial picks was “best bang for your buck breakfast burrito.”

Without further ado, the ‘best bang for your buck breakfast burrito‘ was deemed to be the breakfast burrito found at La Abeja. La Abeja is described as a ‘hole-in-the-wall’ spot with massive portions. According to Westword, this burrito comes in at a price of $9.99 and is either filled or smothered with green chile. Other ingredients include eggs, potatoes, and a choice of protein.

La Abeja gets plenty of love online, too, with the East Colfax Avenue spot maintaining a 4.6-star rating on Google Reviews. Many patrons mention the smothered breakfast burritos as one of the best citywide, too, commenting on how large it is and the quality of green chile.

Westword also released the results of their ‘readers’ choice’ option when it came to breakfast burritos – Renegade Burrito ended up in first place in that category. With multiple locations around the metro area and good reviews across the board, this seems like another spot where it would be hard to go wrong.
