Denver weather: Sunny, warm and breezy

After a brief stint of rain, the Denver area will once again see a warm and sunny spring day.

The National Weather Service said to expect a high near 72 with strong winds throughout the day. Wind gusts could reach up to 70 mph.

The increased temperature and breezy conditions bring with them the return of “moderate fire conditions” starting in the afternoon, according to the weather service.

The fire conditions will reach red flag status from Colorado Springs down to the southeast corner of the state.

Today’s temperature warm-up is expected to be a brief thing, with the cold moving back in tomorrow.

Forecasters had previously predicted more precipitation in the Denver area for Friday, but now expect the area to stay dry for the rest of the week.

However, Colorado’s mountains will receive more snowfall this evening into tomorrow, according to the weather service.

“Snow returns to the mountains this afternoon and tonight. Heavier snow will fall north of I-70 where roads will be slippery in places,” the weather service said.

Tonight, expect a low of around 34, and for the breezy conditions to continue to make way for a chilly Friday
