Fatal head-on collision closes canyon drive in Colorado

A fatal head-on collision that took place on Highway 119 in the area of Boulder Canyon resulted in a closure of the route on April 2.

According to Colorado State Patrol, the crash occurred at about 9:23 a.m. in the area of Chapman Drive at mile marker 38. The crash involved two vehicles, a Lexus RX350 and a Subaru Legacy.

The 76-year-old driver of the Subaru was pronounced deceased at the scene while the 83-year-old driver of the Lexus was transported to a local hospital with unknown unjuries.

Per the latest report, motorists have been encouraged to take an alternate route while the investigation of the crash continues. When the road reopens, an update will be present on the Colorado Department of Transportation’s CoTrip map.
