Speed cameras now issuing fines along stretch of I-25 in Colorado
Speed cameras are now issuing fines along a heavily-trafficked stretch of I-25.
As of April 2, a warning period has ended for eight speed cameras, clocking drivers in both directions along the stretch of I-25 between Mead and Berthoud. This stretch of interstate is located about 35 miles north of Denver and in an area where construction is taking place. Fines are set at $75.
This isn’t the first time that the Colorado Department of Transportation has added speed cameras to a major stretch of road. Speed cameras were added to Colorado Highway 119 (Diagonal Highway) during the summer of 2025, with excessive speeding having since dropped along this corridor by 80 percent.

Signs are present in the area where the speed cameras have been added. The goal of the speed cameras isn’t to surprise drivers with a ticket, but to make the roadway safer. Being a construction zone, traffic flow can vary and construction workers are present alongside the road.
