Denver’s ‘best pickle pizza’ is found at spot with 4.9 stars on Google

Earlier this week, I highlighted one of my favorite categories that Westword included in their 2026 ‘Best of Denver’ awardsbest bang for your buck burrito. Among the many great recommendations featured in their report, there’s one other category that really resonated with me as a person who absolutely loves pickles and pizza – the spot with ‘the best pickle pizza’ in the Mile High City of Denver.

Do pickles belong on pizza? I’m sure some circles still think that’s up for debate. In my opinion, it’s not. An odd topping? Sure. But I’m also a person who tends to go pepperoni and pineapple on a pizza whenever I get the chance, and I think there’s a place for pickles on pizza, too.

Westword’s ‘Best of Denver’ awards program has been serving up recommendations since 1984, and when I saw their pick for ‘best pickle pizza’ it got me thinking that a trip to Denver is due.

Westword’s editorial staff ended up picking Outside Pizza’s ‘Pickle Pie’ as the best pickle pizza in Denver. Don’t order this one expecting it to be pickles merely slapped on the standard pizza, either. No, this entire pizza is built around highlighting the flavor of some delicious pickles.

It’s a pie topped with house-made creme fraiche, minced garlic, mozzarella, provolone, pickle slices, and a sprinkle of dill, priced at $18 at their Highlands location on Lowell Boulevard at time of reporting. It can be made spicy for an extra buck, too.

One other thing about Outside Pizza that makes their pies particularly special is that they use sourdough crust. They also offer sauces on the side like hot honey, spicy ranch, and more.

It’s also worth noting that Outside Pizza is at the same address as the West Highlands Cerebral Brewing taproom, so expect plenty of delicious beer to wash it down, as well.

Patrons really seem to love Outside Pizza given its 4.9-star rating on Google Reviews. As might be expected, numerous reviewers mention The Pickle Pie, with one calling it “to die for” and many others saying that it lived up to the hype.

There’s no doubt about it, based on the reviews, fresh ingredients, and creative collections of toppings, Outside Pizza seems like a must-try Denver spot. Plan a visit here.
