The Denver Police Department is investigating a homicide Sunday morning, according to officials. 

The police department posted an alert at 2:30 a.m. Sunday about a shooting in the area of Broadway and Maple. A victim was located and transported to the hospital.

The victim was later pronounced dead, according to a Denver Police Department social media post at 7 a.m. 

Police initially said that preliminary information indicated that the shooting was related to a potential road rage incident. However, in a follow-up post at 5:48 p.m. Sunday, they said that the circumstances of the homicide are still under investigation, and the initial post about it being road rage was published in error.
