Denver weather: Sunny skies before spotty afternoon showers

Some much-needed precipitation is forecasted for Denver on Thursday.

The National Weather Service said to expect a high near 74 in Denver on Thursday. Forecasters predict afternoon showers across much of the state with minimal wind.

The forecasted rain comes amidst water restrictions for Denver and many other Colorado counties. However, rainfall totals will be light, less than 0.10″ in populated areas, according to the weather service.

Expect temperatures to get slightly cooler heading into the weekend, and for the possibility of rain to increase on Friday.

Forecasters are tentatively preparing for a storm next week.

“A spring storm [is] possible Tuesday/Wednesday with heavier precipitation amounts possible,” the weather service said.

Tonight, expect a low of around 40 degrees. Precipitation is more likely as the sun sets, with chances around 50% according to the National Weather Service.
