Denver weather: Clouds and rain as temperatures cool

It’ll be a gloomy and wet day in Denver on Friday.

The National Weather Service said to expect a 40% chance of rain from noon until the end of the day, with a high of 68 degrees.

Forecasters warn that the rain could turn into thunderstorms after 3 p.m., with cloud-to-ground lightning strikes being the main hazard.

“When thunder roars, go indoors,” the weather service said.

Forecasters also called it “not impossible” for a weak tornado to pop up southeast of Denver today. Most of the state is expected to receive some precipitation.

The northwest corner of the state is the exception, however, and the region has received a Red Flag Warning for wildfires.

Saturday and Sunday are expected to warm back up. The weather service expects elevated fire danger across the state.

Thunderstorms could continue Saturday despite the warmer weather, according to forecasters.

Tonight, expect a low of around 46 and a 30% chance of showers.
