Western Colorado hires Amber Burdge as new AD | Colorado Sunshine

Where good news shines

Western Colorado hired Amber Burdge as its next athletics director.

Burdge arrives in Gunnison after serving as the assistant vice president for student involvement, overseeing over 200 registered student organizations.

Western Colorado University president Brad Baca said Wednesday: “We are so excited to welcome Amber into the Mountaineer family. She has a remarkable career in elevating student success and competitive excellence. She understands the important role athletics plays in the student experience and in connecting our campus with the community. Her vision, talent and work ethic will help move Mountain Athletics to new heights.”

Burdge at New Mexico State also worked as the deputy athletics director for strategic initiatives and leadership. She was named acting athletics director from January through October 2025.
