Broncos safety Devon Key signs exclusive rights tender
Safety Devon Key is back in Denver and officially back on the Broncos’ roster.
Key, named first-team All-Pro last season as a special teams player, signed his exclusive rights free-agent tender Thursday. It’s a one-year, $1.075 million contract.
Key had been at his home in Kentucky before flying back to Denver on Thursday morning. The Broncos begin offseason drills Monday.
All four of Denver’s exclusive rights free agents now have signed the tenders they were offered. Previously signing were running back Tyler Badie, defensive lineman Jordan Jackson and outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman.
Key, 28, has been with the Broncos since 2022. Last season, he played in all 17 games, serving as a reserve safety while doing his best work on special teams.
Key’s brother, Dane Key, 22, has reached an agreement to sign with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent. Dane, who played at Nebraska, will take part in a May 8-10 rookie minicamp.
“It was just a super exciting moment because until now I’ve never played on the same team as my brother or ever even played against him,” Dane told The Denver Gazette last Sunday, a day after he had agreed to his deal. “And now I get the chance to be on the same team as my big brother on the biggest stage.”
When the Broncos begin organized team activities June 2, Devon figures to be covering Dane at times.
