More than 400 cakes expected at Denver cake-swapping event
Are you craving a sense of community? Bring a cake and take home more than just samples – and that’s just the icing
Life’s a little sweeter when you’re willing to take wisks.
That’s the idea behind Lil Bergie & Friends’ fourth Community Cake Event, where Denverites bring a cake to share and take home slices from others’ cakes.
The goal of the event is to bring together like-minded people with a sweet tooth, whether you are a seasoned baker or new to the kitchen.
The idea is more than just exchanging cakes and brings together cake-lovers from Denver and beyond to share their baking and decorating skills, make friends and try as many flavors of cake as humanly possible.
The event takes place 1 p.m. Sunday, May 3 at Denver’s City Park Pavilion.
After all, what’s butter than spending the day making friends around a table full of cakes?
To participate, register and pay $25 for the event to reserve a spot at the picnic table. Then decide which cake you are going to bring — store-bought or homemade are acceptable.
Participants are asked to bring a cake to the event and label it with a description of its flavor profile and any allergens it may contain. Don’t forget a knife so that people can take a slice of your cake.
There will be a table designated specifically for gluten-free and vegan cakes so that everyone can participate, and the event is open to all ages.
Event attendees will receive a box and a time slot to choose samples to fill their box with slices from everyone’s cake. Bakers and cake connoisseurs are invited to stay a while and hang out while you sample your slices.
Making friends while enjoying some of life’s sweetest offerings? Sounds like a prettysweet deal.
