Ex-Douglas County teacher sentenced on child exploitation charge
A former Douglas County teacher will spend 10 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
David Wayne Feil, 50, was a sixth-grade teacher at Roxborough Elementary School. A student in March 2025 submitted a tip through the “Safe2Tell” tipline accusing Feil of sending Snapchat photos to female students and engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with students, according to a news release from the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigated and found several instances of students sitting on Feil’s lap, as well as other cases of inappropriate touching and of photos being taken of underage students.
Feil also reportedly discussed pornography with students. These incidents dated back to 2021, the same year Feil received a disciplinary letter from the school after “inappropriate” interactions with students.
Feil was fired in May 2025. He had been employed by the district since 2014.
After his release from prison, Feil will be subject to 10 years of intensive sex offender supervision.
