Railroad maintenance to impact Havana Street in Denver
Maintenance on a railroad crossing will result in parts of Havana Street to be closed over the next few weeks.
Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is set to work on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks on Havana, north and south of East 51st Avenue, according to a news release from the city.
The north end of the maintenance work will begin Monday and run until Friday, which will require the closure of Havana between 51st and 56th Avenues.
Both 51st Avenue and 56th Avenue will remain open for east-west travel during the closure. The work being done includes a replacement of the railroad tracks, the installation of a new crossing surface and the repaving of the approaches to the crossing.
The south end of the work will run from June 1 until June 5, which will close Havana from 49th to 51st Avenues.
For both cases, motorists will be detoured to Central Park Boulevard. The work is expected to begin at 7 a.m. on the respective Mondays and run until noon on Friday each week.
