Reservation of spots for Denver airport’s security line ending

Denver International Airport is retiring DEN Reserve.

The airport posted on its website that it will shut down the security line reservation system on June 27, saying it’s “no longer necessary” as the airport’s new measures to make the Transportation Security Administration checkpoints much faster have worked.

Average wait times at security checkpoints are down to five minutes, DIA said on its website.

The airport opened two new TSA checkpoints that replaced its earlier screening areas with the latest technology, including facial recognition ID verification, and a conveyor allowing multiple passengers to place their items in bins at the same time. Passengers don’t have to take off their shoes and can leave their liquids and electronics in their bags.

The West checkpoint opened in 2024 and the East checkpoint, a mirror copy, opened in August 2025. When other major airports around the nation were struggling with wait times that lasted hours during the partial government shutdown earlier this year, DIA wait times were minimal and averaged about 12 minutes, with the longest periods hovering around 35 minutes.

“The reservation-based system that ensured a spot in line for TSA security is no longer necessary,” the airport said on its website.

DIA added that it will still honor any existing reservations and will continue taking reservations up to June 27.
