HIGHLANDS RANCH — Three people who were on a sidewalk were struck by a driver who left the roadway, hit them and then kept going, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The two others were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver who struck the pedestrians was headed eastbound around 10:30 a.m. Monday on Wildcat Reserve Parkway near Willowbridge Way when they left the roadway and struck the pedestrians. 

About a dozen people witnessed the crash, according to the sheriff’s office. One of them of them followed the driver, who was later arrested in the Daniels Park area. No information about that driver has been released. They’re still investigating what caused the driver to leave the roadway.

In a Monday evening news release, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said they were still seeking witnesses and surveillance camera footage, including from dash or doorbell cameras, of the suspect vehicle, both before and after the incident.
