A warm and sunny start to the day, before thunderstorms potentially move in this afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect mostly sunny skies on Monday morning, with a high of 81 degrees, and a 30% chance of thunderstorms before noon.

The weather service said that thunderstorms will continue through Wednesday, potentially bringing large hail and damaging winds and possible tornadoes to parts of the Great Plains.

“Scattered thunderstorms will develop along the I-25 Corridor by early afternoon and then move quickly across the plains by early evening,” the weather service said in a post on X. “Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats from the storms, however, a brief tornado or two will be possible as well.”

The forecast high is about 3 degrees warmer than average for June 1 in Denver, according to weather service archive data.

According to the weather service, winds will remain light, between 5-8 mph.

Forecasters predict a 20% chance of showers this evening, mainly after 9 p.m. and temperatures reaching a low of 55, according to the weather service.

According to the forecast, scattered showers are expected to continue throughout the week, but temperatures should remain relatively warm.
