Metro Moves: King Soopers opens new store in Denver
There’s a new King Soopers store in Denver.
The grocery chain owned by Kroger announced it opened a new 103,000-square-foot Marketplace store at 4201 E. Arkansas Ave.
It was a $37 million investment, King Soopers said, and will nearly double the footprint of the Belcaro King Soopers store at 825 S. Colorado Blvd. it is replacing.
The Belcaro store opened in 1966 and spanned 42,000 square feet.
“We’re excited to open this new store and continue serving the Denver community,” said Chris Albi, president of King Soopers, said in a news release. “As a Colorado-born company, we are proud to build on the 60-year legacy of our Belcaro store by offering customers expanded access to fresh, affordable food in a modern space designed to reflect and connect with the local neighborhood. This new location marks an important next chapter in our commitment to Denver, and we are grateful to our associates for helping bring it to life.”
The new store will employ more than 175 workers, the company said.
It features a Murray’s Cheese shop, a sushi station, Starbucks, a pharmacy with drive-thru services and a fuel center that opened in January 2025.
King Soopers said this is one of three stores set to open this year, including one in Louisville and one in Parker. There are also 17 stores that are going through remodels, the company said.
The store will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Asian-lifestyle retailer Miniso opened another store in Colorado on Saturday.
The new store that sells cute plushies and fan item collaborations with Barbie, Powerpuff Girls and Harry Potter opened at the Avenues at Northfield shopping center in Denver’s Central Park neighborhood. It also sells home goods, beauty products, toys, electronics and other lifestyle products.
“Bringing MINISO to Avenues at Northfield reflects our continued focus on elevating the merchandising mix and introducing globally recognized brands to the Denver community,” said Jeff Bhathal, co-head of retail and managing director at Stockdale Capital Partners, in a news release. “MINISO delivers a distinctive, design-driven retail experience that aligns with today’s consumer and adds an engaging new dimension for our guests.”
The store spans nearly 6,500 square feet and is the latest opening as Avenues at Northfield expands its offerings. It just opened a new American Eagle store and has plans to bring in the metro area’s first retail Wayfair store.
The company has more than 7,800 stores around the world and more than 330 in the U.S. It also has stores around the metro area at Colorado Mills, Belmar, Flatiron Crossing, Orchard Town Center, and Town Center at Aurora. There’s also a Miniso store at Mesa Mall in Grand Junction.
