Road rage drivers stop in traffic on I-70 in Wheat Ridge to fight, video shows

Two drivers this week were caught on video stopping their cars in the middle of Interstate 70 in Wheat Ridge to fight one another.

The video, posted Friday by Wheat Ridge police, shows an incident that took place Wednesday near the W 32nd Avenue intersection on I-70. The dash cam footage from an 18-wheeler first shows two cars swerving between lanes and brake-checking one another before both cars just stop in the middle lane of the highway.

The driver of the front car can be seen exiting his vehicle and running to the car behind him, slamming the door shut as the other driver tries to exit. Once the first driver runs back to his car, the other driver gets out and appears to smash out the back window of the first car.

The other driver then retrieves a tire iron from his trunk as the two seem to argue before the video ends. Wheat Ridge police said one of the drivers remained on scene to report the incident to police.

Authorities warned drivers of the danger of stopping on the highway and asked drivers to help bring down the temperatures on the roads.

“I-70 is dangerous enough without people stopping in the middle of the highway and getting out of their cars,” Wheat Ridge police said in an X post. “Don’t do that.”

Police said both drivers admitted fault in escalating the situation. Both drivers were issued summonses for disorderly conduct, police said.
