Injured cyclist airlifted from side of I-70 in Colorado

Sunday drivers of I-70 may have noticed an emergency situation involving a medical helicopter unfolding roadside in the area of the Bakerville exit at about 4 p.m. on June 21.

According to the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office, this response was related to an injured cyclist. In order to get the cyclist to medical care as quickly as possible, a helicopter landed on the south side of the highway, resulting in travel delays for eastbound traffic.

By 4:40 p.m., the helicopter took off with the patient on board.

Additional information related to what type of injuries the cyclist sustained has not been released.
