Highway 6 reopens in Jefferson County after closure due to rockslides
Highway 6 reopened west of Golden Thursday afternoon after crews cleaned up rocks and other debris left on the road after heavy rainfall.
The road was closed in both directions leading out of Golden to Highway 119 at the Clear Creek Junction, officials said. The closure first happened just after midnight Thursday morning after rockslides blocked the road.
Colorado Department of Transportation traffic cameras show an apparent rockslide covering all of one lane of traffic and half of the other lane.
The highway was reopened at about 1:30 p.m., according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office.
Officials also reported heavy debris on Highway 74 due to the rain and warned drivers to be cautious if taking that route.
