Ferris and Far Draw fires merge, evacuation notices issued

The Ferris Fire and Far Draw Fire have essentially merged and now total almost 6,000 acres, according to the Dolores County Office of Emergency Management.

According to the Dolores County Office of Emergency Management, the fires are burning east of the Dolores River Canyon and are threatening Glade Ranches. New evacuations have been issued for Dolores County, including the private land inholdings north of Glade Ranches. Strong winds are expected to return tomorrow and the fire is still expected to grow.

However, the Alkali Fire west of Cahone is now 100 percent contained. Firefighters with the Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department also stopped several other lightning-strike fires before they took off.

Unfortunately the Doe Canyon Fire is almost at 400 acres.
