DeAguero takes lead in Adams County Commission primary election
Adams County voters appear to be selecting Karen DeAguero as the Democratic candidate for the Board of County Commissioners’ District 4 for the general election later this year, according to the early and unofficial tally on Tuesday night.
DeAguero led Democratic rival Tyler Quick by two points Tuesday night, 51% to 49%.
DeAguero is an environmental engineer and the founder of nonprofit Arvada Voices. Her priorities include environmental stewardship, inclusive governance and uplifting communities, according to her campaign website.
Joseph Domenico is the only candidate on the Republican primary ballot for District 4.
The Adams County Board of Commissioners has two seats up for election in November for Districts 3 and 4.
Incumbent Emma Pinter is running for reelection in District 3 unopposed.
Adams County has five commissioners representing five districts. Current members are Julie Duran Mullica for District 1, Kathy Henson for District 2, Emma Pinter for District 3, Steve O’Dorisio for District 4 and Lynn Baca for District 5.
O’Dorisio is not seeking reelection to his seat.
The board’s responsibilities include adopting ordinances for the county, appointing staff, overseeing and adopting the annual county budget, making land-use decisions and representing the county on other boards and governing bodies.
