Dog park bar opens in Westminster

I’ll have a pup cup. And make it a double.

For those looking to enjoy some sunshine, beer and the company of some good dogs, look no further than Kokopelli Social Bar in downtown Westminster. The bar, located near the temporary dog park at 90th Avenue and Fenton Street, serves craft beer, snacks and dirty sodas and serves both two-legged and four-legged mammals.

The bar was announced last year as part of a partnership between the city of Westminster and Kokopelli Beer Co. Kokopelli also operates a main location in the Solaire Shoppes at 8931 Harlan St. and is the first solely female-owned brewpub in Colorado, according to the company’s website.

The bar offers 30 different beers on tap, 27 of which are Kokopelli originals. Areas of the dog park are also shaded.

Kokopelli is part of a continued effort by Westminster to grow it’s downtown district. The project has been slowly building since the Westminster mall closed in 2011.

Westminster has added a number of businesses and parks to the area in an effort to grow the downtown area of the city.

Kokopelli’s current hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays. For the Fourth of July, the bar will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

An official grand opening event will take place next Friday, July 10, at 5:30 p.m.
