Off-duty JeffCo deputy arrested, charged with DUI Sunday

An off-duty Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested and charged with DUI after he was found asleep at the wheel Sunday morning.

Tyler Stahl was found asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle in a private Denver apartment parking lot when Colorado State Patrol responded to a request from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office just after 8 a.m. Sunday to assist with the arrest, according to a Monday news release from CSP.

JeffCo deputies originally responded to a report of an individual asleep behind the wheel of their vehicle in the complex’s lot, located near West Hampden Avenue and South Harlan Street, according to the release. The agency passed along the request because the man is a deputy with the office.

CSP is handling the criminal investigation, and the JCSO is handling any administrative questions.
