Two new wildfires burning near popular outdoor recreation areas in northwest Colorado

Two new fires sparked in northwest Colorado on Sunday, one of which is prompting some mandatory evacuations at this time.

At last report, the Fishhook Fire had reached 94 acres near Rabbit Ears Pass, with the Green Ridge Fire at 44 acres southeast of Stagecoach Reservoir. Both fires are burning in the area of popular outdoor recreation spots.

While the Green Ridge Fire is the smaller of the two, it’s prompted mandatory evacuations for some and an evacuation warning for land that includes Stagecoach State Park.

Per the Routt County Sheriff’s Office, the fires are impacting air quality in the area. Updates related to air quality can be found here.

Additional updates on the situation may be posted here.
