Pueblo officials lift evacuations for north side of Aspen Acres fire
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office lifted evacuations for residents who live along the north and northeastern side of the Aspen Acres fire Tuesday.
Residents south of Highway 96 and north of Highway 78 could return to their homes starting at 8 a.m., according to an announcement from the office. The areas will remain in pre-evacuation status, and residents must be ready to leave again at a moment’s notice.
People returning to their homes must have a reentry card issued at the Disaster Assistance Center at 29 Leigh Ave. in Pueblo.
The Sheriff’s Office said there is still fire suppression work being done in the area near Siloam, Even and Savage roads, as well as Vaugh View Drive.
Authorities ask returning residents to stay off the roads when possible to allow personnel and emergency vehicles to move freely.
“Our fire crews need those returning home to be mindful of the firefighters still doing work in the area and to keep them safe,” the announcement said.
