Anna Trinidad, Luis Sagastume, Bobby Purify lead Colorado Springs Sports Corp.’s Hall of Fame inductees
The Colorado Springs Sports Corp. announced its Hall of Fame Class of 2026 on Monday, featuring men’s soccer coach Luis Sagastume and former Cheyenne Mountain High School swimmer Anna Trinidad.
Sagastume, Trinidad, Bobby Purify, Lisa Rainsberger and Tom Southall will be honored at the Sports Corp.’s annual Hall of Fame dinner Oct. 20. Joining the individual inductees are the 1982 Doherty boys soccer team and the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Olympic team.
Sagastume took over Air Force men’s soccer program in 1979. During his 28-year tenure, the Falcons won 282 games, claimed nine conference championships, made four NCAA Tournament appearances and earned 20 winning seasons.
As a high school coach, he led St. Mary’s High School to its first state championship in 2010.
Trinidad became a legend in Colorado swimming history, winning eight individual state titles and three straight 400 freestyle relay championships, and helped Cheyenne Mountain capture a 2002 team title.
She continued her dominance in college, swimming at Wisconsin, where she became a nine-time NCAA Division I All-American and a four-time NCAA individual qualifier.
Purify was a standout multisport athlete for Palmer. The former Terrors running back rushed for more than 2,000 yards his senior season, scoring 24 touchdowns. In his junior season, he rushed for more than 1,800 yards. In basketball, he helped the Terrors complete a perfect 24-0 season, resulting in a 5A state crown.
Purify went on to play for the Colorado Buffaloes where he helped the football team win the Big 12 Championship in 2001.
After a successful career nationally as a distance runner, Rainsberger has become an influential and accomplished coach in Colorado Springs. She founded the Kokopelli Racing team, which guided 22 high school athletes to state championships. Rainsberger is the head track and field and cross country coach at Coronado. Last fall, she led the Cougars to a 5A boys cross country state title and an 11th-place finish at nationals.
Southall was a decorated three-sport athlete at Steamboat Springs High School before continuing his football and track and field careers at Colorado College where he was a four-year letter winner in both sports. He became one of the nation’s top Division III return specialists and holds a CC long jump record that stands today.
