Popular mountain pass in Colorado closed due to flooding and mudslides
Imogene Pass and Tomboy Road have been closed due to flooding and mudslides that occurred on Friday.
According to the San Miguel Sheriff’s Office, the San Miguel County portion of Imogene Pass from the access point on Oak Street in Telluride to the Smuggler’s Union Mill by the town of Tomboy is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic because of debris and hazardous conditions from the flooding and mudslides that happened on Friday.
The Ouray County Road and Bridge posted and said that the town of Telluride got significant rainfall on Friday which caused the flooding in the Tomboy area and Telluride itself.
The Town of Telluride said that it is still dangerous up there and that more storms are on the way, so crews won’t be able to safely reach the area to do a full analysis and begin recovery until late next week at the earliest.
It is unknown how long the road will be closed.
