Firefighters reach 100% containment on fire in Routt County

Firefighters have reached 100% containment of the Green Ridge Fire as of Saturday, according to the Routt County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Facebook post, smoke may still be visible in the area in the foreseeable future and crews remain on scene to monitor for any more fire activity.

CBS News reported that the fire grew to 45 acres, threatening nearby homes and prompting evacuations for some people living near Stagecoach. The fire sparked on July 12 and burned southeast of Stagecoach Reservoir in Routt County.

Also in Routt County, the Fishhook Fire is still burning, reaching 347 acres and 0% containment. Although containment is still at 0%, crews did make progress through challenging terrain on Saturday, according to an update. They were able to build and reinforce control lines and manage small spot fires on the fire’s edge.
