Gene Enley, a longtime Littleton Police Department leader with more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, has been appointed the department’s next chief.

Enley has spent 28 of his 31 years in law enforcement serving the Littleton community. During his tenure with the department, he advanced through a series of leadership roles, including officer, sergeant, lieutenant, commander and division chief. He also previously served three terms as interim chief before receiving the permanent appointment.

“Gene has dedicated nearly three decades to serving the Littleton community with integrity, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to public safety,” City Manager Jim Becklenberg said in a statement. 

Enley’s law enforcement career includes work in patrol, investigations and specialized operations. He served as an undercover officer with the South Metro Drug Task Force and spent 18 years with the Littleton SWAT team.

He is also a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command and the FBI National Academy.

In a statement, Enley said he is grateful for the opportunity to lead the department.

“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as Littleton’s police chief,” Enley said. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated employees, strengthening our partnerships with the community and continuing our commitment to providing exceptional public safety services.”
