Ty Lawson has apparently lost a step.

The former Denver Nuggets guard was arrested Thursday night after allegedly stealing a bottle of vodka from a store in Castle Rock, according to an affidavit obtained by KDVR.

Lawson walked out of the store without paying and took the bottle to a nearby restaurant, according to the report. Lawson was booked into Douglas County jail on a shoplifting charge. The owner reportedly saw Lawson stumbling, and the arresting officers claimed to smell alcohol on Lawson.

The Nuggets acquired the former University of North Carolina star via a draft-night trade with the Timberwolves in 2009. He received votes for Sixth Man of the Year (2010-11) and Most Valuable Player (2012-13) in his six seasons in Denver before he was traded to Houston in 2015. His last NBA action came as a member of the Wizards in 2018. He last played in Venezuela in 2023.

The 38-year-old’s history with the law dates back to a driving-under-the-influence charge when he was a Tar Heel. He was also arrested for careless driving, a misdemeanor domestic violence charge and DUI during his time with the Nuggets.
