3 killed, 2 injured in Weld County single-vehicle crash

Three people were killed and two others were injured Saturday in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Weld County.

The crash occurred at about 5:18 p.m. on Weld County Road 80 at Weld County Road 39, east of Ault, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Investigators said a Chevrolet Tahoe was speeding westbound on Weld County Road 80 when it left the roadway and entered a ditch. The vehicle then reentered the road, lost control and rolled several times.

All five occupants were thrown from the SUV.

Three passengers, including two men from Eaton, ages 19 and 20, as well as a 19-year-old from Greeley, were all pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The driver, a 20-year-old man from Wyoming, was taken to a hospital and remains in critical condition.

A fifth passenger, a 19-year-old man from Eaton, suffered minor injuries.

The Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the investigation into the crash.

Eastbound Weld County Road 80 at Weld County Road 39 was closed for six hours and has since reopened.
