1 killed by lightning strike on Mount Blue Sky
Four other people were injured by the strike Sunday afternoon on the summit of the Clear Creek County fourteener, the sheriff’s office said.
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY — A teenager was killed and four other people were injured by a lightning strike on the summit of fourteener Mount Blue Sky Sunday afternoon, the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office said first responders from multiple agencies were called to the summit around 1:20 p.m.
One person, a teenager, was killed by the strike, the sheriff’s office said. One other person was taken via helicopter to the hospital. Three others suffered minor injuries. The five people were all hikers, the sheriff’s office said.
