Burning vehicle closes lanes on I-70 in Colorado mountains
According to the Colorado State Patrol, I-70 is closed in the eastbound lanes at the Eagle exit (mile marker 147) due to a motor vehicle fire.
Update: Eastbound lanes of I-70 are now open.
The Greater Eagle Fire Protection District is on the scene working on putting out the flames. Currently, traffic is being rerouted through Highway 6. There is no estimated time of reopening.

I-70 is a popular route for traveling to Colorado’s ski resort including Vail, Aspen, Winter Park, Keystone, and Breckenridge. Certain parts of the interstate, including Vail Pass, tend to be problematic for travelers during the winter months. Slick and snow-covered roads often lead to a number of spin-outs and wrecks. Just earlier this week, lanes temporarily shut down on I-70 due to a powerful winter snowstorm.
This is a developing story.
