Get ready for another round of snow, Colorado.

While temperatures will remain in the upper 60s and 70s early this week, another round of snow is expected to hit many parts of the state as early as Thursday evening into Friday. The storm system is expected to bring mixed precipitation of rain and snow to the mountains and possibly the plains, with additional snow likely on Sunday. As the storm gets closer, more information will be known about just how much snow might fall.

Colorado got hit hard this past week by an intense snowstorm, bringing up to nearly 10 inches of snow to high altitude terrain. According to a snow totals report from the Denver Post, Denver received 6.3 inches of snow, Estes Park saw 6.7 inches of snow, and Silverthorne was hit with 6.4 inches on Thursday, October 10. Breckenridge came in with one of the highest snowfall totals, at 9 inches.

The fresh powder led to the kick-off of the 2019-20 ski season, with Arapahoe Basin leading the charge as the first ski resort to open in North America ahead of Keystone Resort. The resort was quick to announce the welcoming of skiers and riders on Friday, October 11, shortly after Keystone announced their opening date of Saturday, October 12.

Please remember, to be cautious on the roads this winter. The Denver metro area saw more than 300 crashes due to this past week’s major snowstorm.
