High-speed police chase closes part of I-70 in Colorado

According to the Denver Police Department, part of WB I-70 has been closed at Brighton following a high speed car chase. The portion of the highway will remain closed until the investigation has concluded.
Update: I-70 WB has now reopened.
Details are still emerging regarding the incident, but it is known that the suspect, who had a gun, stole a vehicle at a liquor store in Strasburg prior to the chase.

The suspect is in custody with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The road closure is in place from I-270 to Washington. This closure is expected to be in place for at least 3+ hours.

The closure is reportedly causing significant backups on I-270.
