FBI and Aurora police continue search of home in connection to Lashaya Stine’s disappearance

Lashaya Stine

FBI officials and the Aurora Police Department are continuing an investigation at an Aurora home that they believe could be connected to the disappearance of a teenage girl in 2016.

Authorities said on Wednesday that through the investigation into Lashaya Stine disappearance, they had established a lead that led them to a home at 2200 Lansing Street in Aurora.

“Lashaya knew the people that lived in that house around the time that she went missing,” said Matthew Longshore, a public information officer for the Aurora Police.

The occupants who lived at the home at the time of Stine’s disappearance in July 2016, have not lived at the address for several years, Longshore said.

Authorities say they could not investigate the home until the current occupants moved out of the home, and then had to coordinate the efforts with the landlord.

“There were some people renting the home, but it’s recently became unoccupied and because of that we are now able to go in there,” said Longshore.

Investigators and K9’s began surveying the home Tuesday for any evidence or clues that could help locate Stine and continued into Wednesday.

“Our family remains hopeful that we will find Lashaya and bring her home,” read a statement from the family posted on Twitter.

“The Aurora Police Department has worked on this case since the day she went missing and we thank them for following every lead.”

Stine was last seen in the early hours of July 15, 2016, near East Montview Boulevard and Peoria Street in Aurora.

Authorities say Stine is 5-feet-6-inches and weights 150 pounds with long black hair, brown eyes and has a quarter-sized round scar on her chest.

Anyone with information about the disappearance is encouraged to contact the Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

The Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information about her disappearance.
