4. Carbondale Dandelion Day

This event has been going on since 1998 after Carbondale citizens rallied and persuaded the town to stop using pesticides on Sopris Parks’ fields of dandelions. Soon after, the town of Carbondale named the dandelion its official flower and now celebrates Carbondale Dandelion Day each year to promote community and sustainable practices in daily living and agriculture. The event includes a fun mix of activities to choose from, including a parade, dance performances, several booths, live music, food, and educational seminars.

5. Goat Extravaganza!

No kidding around here, you can spend your Saturday morning petting and doing yoga with a bunch of cute weed munching goats! Don’t miss out on this free, family-friendly event right off the shores of Boulder Reservoir. All are welcome to the Meet and Bleat, beginning at 10am, where you can pet baby and adult goats and learn how goat herds have been controlling invasive plant species around many of Boulder’s parks. If practicing yoga with goats prancing around you and on top of you sounds as much fun to you as it does to us, make sure to register online to reserve your spot. Don’t forget to bring a yoga mat and water and be prepared to laugh at the goofy creatures hopping around you.
